Wanting to really kick up your bloody mary or your bloody mary bar? Then it’s vital you have the perfect bloody mary mix.
But also vital are the extra bloody mary ingredients that you can add to really personalize your drink and give your guests options.
One of those options is the Bloody Mary Rimmers. One of our favorite options is bacon salt, and the best part is that it’s super easy to make at home.
Here’s how:
How to Make Bacon Salt
(This is a traditional bacon salt recipe, for a smoked bacon salt option, see below)
Bacon Salt Ingredients:
- Three strips of bacon
- 3/4 cup of Himalayan Pink Salt (you can use sea salt as well)
- 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
- Fry three strips of bacon until they are quite crispy.
- Don’t worry about overcooking. You want your bacon to be very dark and very crisp.
- Remove and dry with paper towels. Be sure to get all of the greases off.
- Allow bacon to cool.
- Pulverize the strips in a processor by hand until they are fine and powdery.
- Mix in the Salt and Pepper
Hickory-Smoked Bacon Salt Rimmer Recipe:
Smoked Bacon Salt Ingredients:
- Three strips of bacon
- 3/4 cup of Himalayan Pink Salt (you can use sea salt as well)
- 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- Liquid Smoke
- High-Ball / Pint Glass
Directions:
- Fry three strips of bacon until they are quite crispy.
- Don’t worry about overcooking. You want your bacon to be very dark and very crisp.
- Remove and dry with paper towels. Be sure to get all of the greases off.
- Allow bacon to cool.
- Pulverize the strips in a processor by hand until they are fine and powdery.
- Mix in the Salt and Pepper
- Shake your bacon salt powder over a shallow plate, pour a small amount of water into plate and add some dashes of liquid smoke.
- Dip rim of pint glass into the liquid, then the powder.
